Yesterday I attended and spoke at SharePoint Saturday Virginia Beach for the 10th anniversary of the event. This was a special event for me because it was the first SharePoint Saturday I attended over 5 years ago when I began my career in SharePoint. I was just scratching the surface with learning SharePoint and was on a SharePoint 2007 to 2010 migration project as an entry level business analyst. My mentor, Tasha Scott, invited me to the event and made it sound so amazingly fun that I was convinced to spend my day off learning.
Coming back to Virginia Beach for the 10th anniversary event as a speaker and Microsoft MVP felt amazing and was a great opportunity to reflect on my accomplishments which I rarely take time to do. Although I had only ever met the event organizer, Susan Lennon, very briefly in the past it felt like I already knew her since she is the mentor of my mentor!
My coworker and friend, Fabian Williams, helped Susan kick off the event with a great keynote on the resurgence of SharePoint. I watched sessions by Daniel Christian, Johnny Lopez, and Shadeed Eleazer. My session was “When SharePoint Met Flow: A Story of Integration and Automation”. I saw a lot of friends from the SharePoint community that I hadn’t seen in a while which was awesome! Thank you to the event organizers, volunteers, speakers, and attendees for a great event!
